Mission and History

The Wiregrass Museum of Art provides access to the visual arts through the collection, preservation, and exhibition of quality works and by providing innovative educational programs that engage a diverse audience.

The museum was founded in 1988 in an effort to improve the quality of life in Dothan, and the Wiregrass Area. The Museum is generously supported by private donors and receives funding from the City of Dothan.

The Wiregrass Museum of Art is one of more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense.
