Celebrate the opening of WMA’s fall exhibitions at Art After Hours!
‘Folktopia: American Self-Taught Art’ — An exhibition of over 100 works from 20 of the Southeast’s most beloved folk artists, including Howard Finster, Mose Tolliver, Woodie Long, Jimmie Lee Sudduth, and B.F. Perkins, among others. Folktopia is guest curated by Marcia Weber of Marcia Weber Art Objects, a gallery in Montgomery, Alabama, dedicated to folk art including contemporary folk and outsider art.
‘Gravitation’ – Works by Jacob Phillips — Collected examinations by artist Jacob Phillips created from driftwood, clay, cast aluminum, assorted paper, light, and sound that tell a story of movements in nature. Phillips is a recent graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a native of Dothan. This is his first solo museum exhibition.
