WMA now offers 14 Literacy Curriculum Kits that can be borrowed from the museum for up to 2 weeks at a time.

These lessons are aligned with Alabama standards in both literacy and art for PreK-3rd grade.

Each literacy curriculum kit comes with a different storybook that is related to the art project and writing assignment. They also come with a prewriting practice for students that are not yet ready to write, and one of the following extensions: word search, word scramble, crossword puzzle, or Matching.

TEACHERS: Kits come with the art supplies for use with up to 36 students. You will need to print out copies of handouts.

PARENTS: ANY lesson can be modified for use with 1-6 students.

You will need to print out copies of handouts unless otherwise noted.

WAIT LIST: If there is a particular lesson that you would like to borrow that is currently in use, you are welcome to fill out both a Sign Out form and the Wait List.

PARENTS must fill out the wait list so that class kits can be modified for smaller use. A museum staff member will contact you when your kit is ready for check out.
