WMA now offers 14 Literacy Curriculum Kits that can be borrowed from the museum for up to 2 weeks at a time.
These lessons are aligned with Alabama standards in both literacy and art for PreK-3rd grade.
Each literacy curriculum kit comes with a different storybook that is related to the art project and writing assignment. They also come with a prewriting practice for students that are not yet ready to write, and one of the following extensions: word search, word scramble, crossword puzzle, or Matching.
TEACHERS: Kits come with the art supplies for use with up to 36 students. You will need to print out copies of handouts.
PARENTS: ANY lesson can be modified for use with 1-6 students.
You will need to print out copies of handouts unless otherwise noted.
WAIT LIST: If there is a particular lesson that you would like to borrow that is currently in use, you will be notified of the expected available date and advised of other lessons currently available.
A museum staff member will contact you when your kit is ready for check out.
Procedure for checking out a Wiregrass Museum of Art Curriculum Kit
- To check out a Curriculum Kit, please click here.
- Kits may be borrowed for up to 2 weeks.
- You will receive an email after a kit is checked out to provide an email confirmation. You will also receive a reminder email a few days before the due date.
- When the kit is returned, a museum staff member will go through the kit with you to examine the condition of the materials in the kit. Any damaged or missing items are the teacher/parent’s responsibility to replace.
