Mission and History

The Wiregrass Museum of Art provides access to the visual arts through the collection, preservation, and exhibition of quality works and by providing innovative educational programs that engage a diverse audience.

The museum was founded in 1988 in an effort to improve the quality of life in Dothan, and the Wiregrass Area. The Museum is generously supported by private donors and receives funding from the City of Dothan.

The Smithsonian Institute's Museum on Main Street program (MoMS) created a traveling version of a National Archives exhibit that documents the history of work in America over the past 150 years.
