With over 80 happenings each year, WMA always has something fresh, fun, and unique to do!
In 2023, WMA’s special events calendar will feature Art in Bloom, an early February event celebrating creativity in floral design to complement works on view from the museum’s Permanent Collection in celebration of its 35th anniversary year. One Night Only, the museum’s annual themed member party culminates a membership drive in May with a not-to-be-missed, members-only event.

Regularly occurring events include Art After Hours, a monthly Third Thursday event offering extended evening hours, with open galleries and quarterly openings for new exhibitions. Live music, artmaking stations, a cash bar, and a come-as-you-are approach makes this event a welcoming and lively way to enjoy the museum. Another way to connect with the community is at Write Night, a quarterly open-mic night event for writers, spoken word artists, and creatives, with an open platform to share original poetry, prose, skits, and more within the museum’s galleries. And, don’t miss First Saturday Family Day, a come-and-go free artmaking workshop held each first Saturday of the month in the museum’s Studio!
Visiting artist Sarah Painter Hayes will show you her techniques and style that helped create her Florida Girl series. She’ll guide you through color mixing, drawing, and painting your own portraits. Attendees are advised to bring their own reference photos for this workshop.
Last minute Holiday shopping? Before you go, drop your kiddos off at WMA for an ornament making workshop. Studio Artist Brandon Rice will teach students how to create their own ornaments using various mediums.
