Learn

WMA offers an exciting schedule of programs year-round that inspire lifelong learning through the arts for everyone, from toddlers to retirees. Stay tuned to our calendar for the latest offerings and updates!

Families

Bring your little ones to enjoy hands-on artmaking at programs like Arty Pants and First Saturday Family Day! Children of all ages and families are welcome to learn together in the museum’s galleries, with engaging activities like art scavenger hunts, watercolor kits, and gallery guides to enrich each museum visit.

K-12 Students and Schools

Make art a part of your student’s comprehensive education experience, from kindergarten to graduation. WMA offers field trips and tours, camps, classes and workshops, and special programs like Youth Art Month and WMA Teens. Curious about all that’s happening at the museum for our education partnerships? Read more here from our Education archive of WMA Stories.

Educators

WMA is a crucially needed resource for its area school systems, partnering with Dothan City Schools and Houston County Schools through programs like Bus on Us, and providing professional development for Alabama educators. Take advantage of lesson plans, art activities and demos, and more resources!

Adults and Seniors

Cultivate creativity and innovation at studio classes and artist workshops, and learn from the art and artists of our time through the Visiting Artist Series programs. Enjoy hands-on artmaking at events like Art After Hours, hear from your local creatives at Write Night, or schedule a guided tour for your group to visit together. Connect with new and old friends with regular visits to our exhibitions on view, and enjoy the museum’s garden spaces in downtown Dothan. Volunteers and docents (tour guides) are always needed at WMA, and you can learn more here.

Outreach

WMA works to fill needs in education, cultural sharing, and community development in the Wiregrass region by partnering with other nonprofit organizations, schools, and key community stakeholders with shared goals. Learn more about specific programs and opportunities here.
