WMA announces the installation of two major American artworks on loan from the Art Bridges Foundation. Alice Trumbull Mason’s Magnitude of Regions from 1962 and Sam Gilliam’s Lilly from 1971 will be on view in the museum’s permanent collection galleries from January 16 through June 27, 2026.

The works appear in a focused installation with select pieces from WMA’s permanent collection. Together, they place postwar American abstraction in conversation through rhythm, color, gesture, and spatial complexity. The installation invites visitors to engage with influential works by artists who shaped and expanded abstraction. This loan supports WMA’s mission to inspire lifelong engagement with the visual arts and reflects Art Bridges’ commitment to broad public access to American art across the country.
