AIM to Heal: Selected works from medical students in the Arts in Medicine Club at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine

Medicine is a practiced science and an applied art. At the Alabama College of Osteopathic
Medicine here in Dothan, AL, the curriculum includes a Foundations of Modern Healthcare
lesson, (taught by Lisa Ennis, ) where medical students learn about creative arts therapies.
Students then create artwork that is meaningful to them and reflect on the role art has in
healing for themselves as future doctors and for their patients. This special showing, by
ACOM students, faculty, and staff, are the results of such discussions from Foundations of
Modern Healthcare and ACOM’s student organization Arts In Medicine.
